Adon grew up in several different states, and did his Bachelors at Wichita State University in Kansas. In addition to EMIG he is involved in APAMSA, Cass Clinic, and case-based learning. Adon became interested in EM after shadowing a physician in Wichita, and was drawn to the fast-paced environment and interesting patients. Outside of school he enjoys spending time with friends and family, learning Mandarin, and exercising.
Amy is from Traverse City, Michigan and attended Central Michigan University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences. Upon graduating, Amy worked as a phlebotomist in the Emergency Department at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, where her inclination for Emergency Medicine blossomed. In her free time she enjoys exploring the outdoors and traveling.
Brandon grew up in Clarkston, Michigan and attended GVSU in Grand Rapids Michigan where he graduated with a degree in Biomedical Science. During his time in Grand Rapids shadowing a former WSU SOM graduate in the Emergency Room he became interested in the diverse, fast paced, patient centered environment of EM. In addition to being a coordinator for EMIG Brandon is also involved in the school’s Co-curricular program and is a coordinator for the Run Detroit program at the school. His first summer in medical school was spent as a prosector for the medical school and a summer externship with St. Johns. In his free time he enjoys cooking and running.
Jake grew up throughout the Midwest before staying in Michigan for high school and college. He went to U of M, where he graduated with a degree in biochemistry. He was drawn to EM through his experience scribing in several Ann Arbor area emergency departments after graduating college. In his free time, he's working on hiking in each national park.
Michael was raised in Grand Rapids Michigan and went to Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula California to begin higher education. After graduating, Michael came back to Michigan for a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences from Grand Valley State University to fulfill prerequisites and prepare for medical school. Michael was commissioned into the Army before starting medical school and is currently a 2nd Lieutenant. He will be practicing in the military for at least a few years after residency training. In his free time he likes to work out, play volleyball and soccer, play the piano, or read and discuss a good book.
2014-2015 EMIG Coordinators
Swati grew up in Troy, Michigan and graduated from Wayne State University with a B.A. in Economics. In addition to being a coordinator for EMIG, she is also the Director of Operations and Assistant Director of Clinic flow for the Robert R. Frank Student Run Free Clinic. Swati loves the fast pace of Emergency Medicine and hopes to further explore the field. In her free time Swati enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking, binge watching shows on Netflix, doing yoga, and traveling.
Justin grew up in several states but moved to Michigan for high school and college where he attended the University of Michigan. During his M1 year he became involved in the EMIG, EM research, cased-based learning and the school's co-curricular program. Justin was originally drawn to EM because of the stimulating, challenging, patient centered environment it provides. In his free time he enjoys traveling, cooking, playing rugby and spending time with friends.
Ryan was raised in Jenison, Michigan but went out of state to the University of Virginia where he studied economics and government. After deciding at the last moment that law school would not be the right choice for him, he completed his premedical requirements at Georgetown. While studying at Georgetown he gained his first exposure to Emergency Medicine while volunteering in Georgetown’s ED. Ryan then spent two years working as an emergency medicine scribe in Northern Virginia prior to returning to Michigan for medical school. Outside of school Ryan enjoys exploring new hobbies, such as gardening, cooking, or woodworking.
Angie grew up in Saline, Michigan and attended CMU where she graduated with a degree in biomedical science. She loves to play soccer, basketball, and the piano. She is involved in many volunteer activities at WSU SOM, including WHSO and Covenant House Tutoring. Angie spent her first summer at medical school going on a medical mission trip to Ecuador and conducting EM research at a Henry Ford Hospital.
Mitch grew up in the Chicago area. Before coming to Wayne State, he attended the University of Michigan where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration. He first became interested in emergency medicine after becoming a licensed EMT-B. In his free time he enjoys practicing martial arts and camping.
